Tassibee runs English classes on a regular basis as there is a really big demand for them by the local communities.

The main aims of the English Classes are to enable ladies of all ages and abilities to learn to speak and listen to the English language. Some also want to improve their writing skills.

We also provide Digital and functional English and Numeracy classes in which women are taught how to optimise the use of their mobile phone for the purposes of banking, directions using google maps and messaging.’ Staff and volunteers work very hard to provide learning opportunities to develop work, skills and employability, Conversational English.

We accommodate their needs and offer support workers to help the tutor because of the variations in the levels of learning.

These sessions also help to tackle socially isolation and low self-esteem.

Whether filling out forms, engaging in casual conversations, or understanding written instructions, empowering participants to navigate daily life more confidently and to take control of tasks such as shopping and engaging with public service

Case scenario A did not have the confidence to speak English despite being able to read and write a little English. A said I used to rely on my young children to speak on my behalf and make appointments for me when she came back from school. After attending this class, my confidence has increased to such an extent that I no longer rely on my daught to speak on my behalf. I am not confident enough to ring my GP surgery to make an appointment for myself. Tassibee made this class fun and the role play really helped me get my confidence. Thank you Tassibee.
